Born in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, Alok Chandrakar began his journey in public life in 1989 through student politics with the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). From the very beginning, he demonstrated strong leadership qualities and a deep understanding of organizational work. His early involvement at the block and district levels laid the foundation for a long and consistent rise within the Congress organization.
Over the years, he has held numerous key organizational and elected positions, including NSUI Block Secretary, District Secretary, District Youth Congress President, State Youth Congress General Secretary, and later District Congress Committee President (Mahasamund). His tenure as District Congress President (2016–2020) is particularly noted for strengthening booth-level structures, mobilizing grassroots workers, and improving electoral coordination.
Currently, Alok Chandrakar serves as the Vice President of the Chhattisgarh State Animal Welfare Board, where he actively works for animal protection, strengthening of Gaushalas (Gauthans), and implementation of animal welfare policies at the grassroots level. Alongside this, he also holds the responsibility of Joint General Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), contributing to organizational strategy, coordination, and party expansion across the state.
Under his leadership and organizational guidance, the Mahasamund District Congress achieved a historic clean sweep in the 2018 Assembly Elections, winning all assembly seats in the district.
